Food
We provide pet food/other essentials to homeless/indigent people so they can keep their pets. This eases the burden on local shelters. The inability to accept owner surrenders creates danger for the community. We also help the pets of domestic violence victims as a priority and want to increase our help in this area. We help 800+ pet owners pm and aim to grow to 1200 plus from March as we add in a new location in Clarke county. We serve two rural locations in Jackson/Banks Counties, with a human food pantry. Areas were chosen because families suffering from poverty in rural areas do not get as much help as some larger areas. Our locations are chosen to fill gaps not currently covered by other pet food pantries. We need funds to buy pet food & extra items such as socks, blankets etc. for the homeless. The cost is $2500pm & we need funds to ensure funds for at least 6 months in advance. The grant request of $5,000 is to fill the shortfall between what we have and what we need.

6' Dog Agility Dog Walk, Aluminum with Rubber Surface
A shelter environment for dogs can often cause anxiety, leading to situations where many dogs refuse to eat, lack motivation, and experience loneliness and depression. The Humane Society of Northeast Georgia aims to transform its Bark Park into a stimulating space where dogs can exercise, socialize, and participate in playgroups. Involving staff and volunteers in taking the dogs out for playgroups or individual interactions increases their opportunities for mental stimulation while playing with others. Enrichment saves lives. The dog agility dog walk with a rubber surface feature will improve animal well-being, reduce stress, and enhance behavior by promoting a healthy and active lifestyle. It provides ongoing support to create a more pet-friendly environment and encourages well-mannered dogs. Additionally, the dog agility dog walk will elevate the shelter's image, demonstrating its commitment to animal welfare and attracting donors and volunteers.

Orthopedic Surgical Saw -Ossability TPLO saw
SurgiPet is a 501c3 nonprofit veterinary clinic in Buford that offering high-quality pet dentistry and non-routine surgery at a reduced rate. Our mission at SurgiPet is to provide low-cost services that will aid in the prevention of pet suffering and economic euthanasia. One of the largest request we receive and cannot currently accommodate is large dog ACL knee tears. These are one of the most common injuries in dogs. Currently at Surgipet, we are only able to fix these injuries on dogs under 45lbs. Every day we turn away one to two patients in need of this surgery because we do not have the equipment to perform a TPLO surgery. Cost for this surgery at a specialty practice is often cost prohibitive for many people and so their pets will go untreated. Purchasing this equipment will allow us to improve the lives of patients that may otherwise go untreated as we will be able to offer the surgery at a greatly reduced rate. Your generous donation will save more pet lives.

Lunches for Sunny D Summer Camp kids
Thank you so much for considering this request to support BRCT's summer camps with lunches for children. Formed in 2002 and named in memory of Delores Luckett, the Sunny D Children's Theater serves children and youth and offers dynamic and diversified programs for young people from five to 18 years. Our mission is to provide a theater experience for the children of Southern Appalachia, and to challenge children's imaginations through the teaching of the performing arts (theatre, spoken word, music, and dance). Our challenge is we need to feed between 175-200 kids and volunteers, which is especially important for families whose parents are working one or two jobs. We typically serve two meals a day, seven days a week. Last year we spent over $2,300 on lunches for kids, an expense the theatre split with other funders. That said, with the price of groceries increasing, we will need more this summer. Hence, we humbly ask for $2,500. THANK YOU for considering this request!

The Norma & Michael Berkman New Play Series
Last February BRCT produced its first-ever world premiere production, which became the highest-attended play in our Black Box history. Inspired by this, BRCT would now like to embark on a series of new play readings, kicked off this summer, and performed throughout the Fall. This series will be named after supporters of the theatre - Norma & Michael Berkman. This effort will be open to playwrights in the north Georgia region. We will aim to kick off this series in summer, identify three qualifying playwrights, and produce readings of their original, unproduced plays between summer and Fall. The readings will showcase local actors and performances will be open to the public on a "Pay What You Can" basis. Expenses will eventually include printing, stipends, and some marketing; initial expenses will be strictly marketing and advertising to get the word out to regional playwrights. To kickoff the Berkman New Play Series we humbly ask for $2,500. Thank you so much.

A classroom set of JAM Instruments
JAM (Junior Appalachian Musicians) is the after-school music program at Sautee Nacoochee Community Association designed to teach children traditional Appalachian music through hands-on instruction for the fiddle, guitar, and banjo. The program preserves and celebrates the musical heritage of the Appalachian region by passing down its unique sounds and styles to the next generation. A classroom set of JAM instruments will enhance SNCA's ability to provide high-quality music education to children in our JAM program. By ensuring that every child has access to an instrument, we keep to our promise of eliminating financial barriers that otherwise prevent participation, making music education more inclusive and accessible. Many of the children we serve come from lower-income families who may not have the means to purchase or rent an instrument. Providing a classroom set allows every student to engage in learning without worry and gives us the ability to teach students for many years to come.

Children's Playground Double Cut Mulch
For 35 years, the Sautee Nacoochee Community Association has served it's community by providing arts, education, and cultural programs. Guided by its mission to value and nurture individual creativity and the cultural, historic, and environmental resources of the Sautee and Nacoochee Valleys and surrounding areas. Our playground is vital for our community members and for the children in our after-school programs. However, the current mulch is deteriorating, and soon, it will no longer provide a safe surface for play. Receiving new playground mulch, specifically designed for children's safety, will help us maintain a secure environment where kids can develop social skills, and enjoy outdoor time in a safe setting. A well-maintained playground supports our mission by fostering a sense of community and providing children with a safe space to learn. Many of the children we serve come from lower-income families, and access to a safe outdoor play area is crucial for their overall well-being.

Clay Slab Roller
A clay slab roller enhances the ceramics program at Hambidge by allowing artists-in-residence, community members, and workshop attendees to roll out clay for hand building projects. With the growth of our ceramics program, a second slab roller allows more flexibility in serving the needs of our workshop attendees while continuing to support artists in our Creative Residency Program. On the 4th Saturday of each month, Hambidge offers a free creative workshop to our local North Georgia community. The workshops cover a range of inspiring topics, from making ceramic luminaries, to journaling, to dyeing fabric with indigo. We hope to continue to offer hands-on ceramics in both our free programs as well as in our immersive overnight workshops that happen over an extended period of time.

HDR Smart Portable Projector (Samsung Freestyle)
A portable projector will enhance Hambidge's programmatic efforts in Rabun Gap by providing technology for workshops and community events like artist talks and presentations. The organization is limited by its current projector, which is outdated and incompatible with many laptops. A new projector would allow Hambidge to step up the quality of its presentations, exhibitions, and offerings. We hope to offer more robust and engaging public programming which continues to spark creativity in everyone.

Wall-Mounted Clay Extruder
A wall-mounted clay extruder enhances the ceramics program at Hambidge by allowing artists-in-residence, community members, and workshop attendees and instructors to push a large amount of clay through the extruder to make coils which can be used in hand building applications as well as standalone projects. As our Ceramics program grows, additional equipment is needed to make the studio usable for both residents and workshop attendees. An extruder works similar to a cookie press. It is an important tool for group workshops, allowing the instructor to pre-make pieces of a desired project to maximize time for attendees to complete their entire project in one sitting rather than over a multi-day period.

Afterschool Program Supplies
Engaging afterschool programs are at the heart of our mission; but delivering high-quality programming requires the right supplies. Every day, our program provides a safe, enriching environment where students receive academic support, explore new interests, and develop essential life skills. However, none of this is possible without the right supplies. Your donation will help provide program supplies such as STEM kits for hands-on coding projects, art materials for creative expression, books to support literacy development, culinary tools for cooking lessons, digital cameras for photography projects, and classroom essentials like notebooks and pencils. The requested amount will provide each of our 20 clubs with $100 for program supplies, which is desperately needed after a reduction in our program supply budget. With your support, we can continue to empower the next generation, helping the 2,800+ youth we serve annually develop skills that will set them up for success!

Learning Resources for Classrooms
For children who have experienced trauma, crisis, social anxiety, or other struggles, school can be difficult. Through small class sizes and individualized instruction, students at our on-campus, SACS-accredited school are given a second chance for academic success. Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) is a community of millions of educators who come together to share their work, insights, and inspiration with one another. This open marketplace is a great source of original educational resources in various digital and downloadable formats. All of the classrooms at Eagle Ranch School use items created on TPT such as creative writing and novel studies for ELA, unit studies for Social Studies and Spanish, as well as unique pieces to supplement our science curriculum. A gift of $3,500 for TPT credits would allow us to purchase learning resources for the 2025-2026 school year, giving us the flexibility to tailor our curriculum to each student's needs.

Dell Precision 3590 - AI Ready - 15.6" - Intel Core Ultra 7 - 165H - vPro Enterprise - 16 GB RAM - 512 GB SSD
There are several reasons why getting an updated work computer is essential for us. Our current desktop is approximately 7 years old. Converting from a desktop to a laptop will allow us mobility. 1) Improved Performance - faster speed and enhanced efficiency. Having an updated operating systems allows for any new software compatibility. 2) Security - updated security features with improved data encryption, secure boot, and better protection against malware. 3) Reliability - reduced risk of failures: Since older computers are more prone to hardware malfunctions, upgrading to a new machine ensures fewer breakdowns and a more reliable work experience. Also, when working with a new computer, we are less likely to face unexpected shutdowns, slowdowns, or crashing. 4) Improved Screen Quality - newer computers come with higher resolution displays, better color accuracy, and features that are easier on the eyes. This helps reduce eye strain and increases comfort during long hours of work.

Reading Nook supplies – child-friendly bookshelves, updated library books, soft area rug, and seating (bean bags, small chairs).
Early exposure to books is critical for literacy development, yet only about 50% of Hall County's third graders are reading on grade level. Creating a dedicated Reading Nook will foster a love of reading among our youngest learners by providing an inviting space for story-time, independent exploration, and early literacy development. This funding will allow us to purchase age-appropriate books, comfortable seating, and shelving to organize and display reading materials, making books more accessible and engaging for our students. By enhancing our Early Learning Center's literacy environment, we can help build foundational reading skills that set children up for long-term academic success.

Tutoring Program Supplies: including grade-level workbooks, leveled reading books (K-5), and educational software licenses (e.g., BrainPop).
This funding will support the continuation of our tutoring program at YMCA afterschool sites, which was successfully piloted this year through a United Way of Greater Atlanta learning loss grant. With the grant funding ending in May 2025, we are committed to sustaining the program to help students strengthen core academic skills. Currently, about 50% of Hall County students are reading below grade level by third grade, making early intervention crucial. The requested supplies: grade-appropriate workbooks, leveled reading books, and access to online learning tools like BrainPop ($250 per site annually) will provide targeted support in reading and math. These resources will help bridge learning gaps, improve literacy, and enhance academic success in a structured, supportive environment.

One Book-One Toy Sets
Kindergarten readiness is a strong predictor for future academic success. Armed with this knowledge, HCLS has been teaching local Head Start families how to read aloud to their children and the many ways simple toys can be used as educational tools. Library staff attend Head Start caregiver meetings to work with the parents on these skills. Families are provided with the bilingual book 'Te amo, te abrazo, leo contigo!/Love you, Hug You, Read to You!' and a pegboard sorting toy. The book is valuable for early literacy development, the pegboard toy for early mathematics - colors, shapes, sorting, pattern awareness, and interactive play. At the end of the training, parents practice their new skills with their child and receive the book and toy to take home. HCLS and Head Start hope to purchase 170 book/toy sets, which will make the One Book/One Toy program a local cornerstone of early childhood literacy and prepare our children to enter school ready to read and achieve academic success.

2 Inflatable safety boats
Lanier Canoe & Kayak is in great need of inflatable safety boats for our coaching staff. We were able to fundraise and buy new motors last year but desperately need to buy new safety boats to stay with athletes as they train. Our athletes range from 7-75 with a lot of young children training on the water. The Jon boats we currently own are decades old and we were going to have them repaired but they are beyond repair due to age. Our programs cover a wide range from beginner racing league & summer camps (7-16) to our competition programs for youth & adults (ages 7-75+). We have "learn to paddle" programs & dragon boat too. Coaches are on the water daily coaching from the safety boats. LCKC is a wonderful place to learn and grow and provides a vast array of opportunities for both the young and old. SAFETY is our main concern, and we need these new boats to be on the water year-round at practices & races with all of the athletes! Pease help us update our safety boat fleet!

Our beginning racing league (BRL) 8-week program helps children 7-17 as an introduction to paddling, water sports, water safety, conservation, and enjoying nature on the water. At the end of the sessions, they get to participate in a "fungatta"! We need to update our marketing materials (flyers, yard signs, banners, and handouts) to send to places like the library, schools, and hand out at festivals and other community events. We have such a wonderful program, and we need help with updating our advertising. In these programs children get to try canoeing, kayaking, paddle boards, and dragon boats. They learn to stretch, exercise, listen to their coach, stay safe on the water, and so much more! Many participants go on to join our recreational or competition programs. Paddling is a lifelong sport and skill, and we see the children gain confidence and skills as they participate. Please help us reach more children so they can participate in this unique opportunity!

Dementia Training Package with Virtual Dementia Tour® for Nursing Students
Beyond Dementia Coalition wants to close the preparedness gap we face as dementia diagnoses are expected to double in the next generation. Our healthcare systems already face a shrinking supply of nurses, doctors, and medical technicians operating with insufficient dementia-specific training. To mitigate these strains, we want to introduce more training - and more compelling training - into the workforce pipeline. Specifically, to offer dementia training, including the Virtual Dementia Tour (a hands-on simulation experience) in area vocational schools where students prepare to become Certified Nursing Assistants. CNAs are often the frontline medical professionals for persons with dementia in nursing homes. This grant would fund a dementia training package at one Hall County vocational school during Summer of 2025, contributing to the development of dementia care skills for up to 60 nursing students and the well-being of the countless patients they will serve in their careers.

"The Importance of Early Diagnosis for Dementia" Educational Module
As a non-profit focused on dementia education, Beyond Dementia Coalition seeks to help Northeast Georgians understand that early detection of dementia is critical to the well-being of the patient with cognitive changes AND their families. But, stigma associated with dementia prevents people from seeking medical advice and diagnostic pathways and accessing important advantages to early diagnosis. For example, new medicines can now address dementia's causes, rather than its symptoms, but only early-stage dementia patients are eligible. And, many diseases cause symptoms that resemble dementia, but can be treated and even cured! Help us help our region understand the power of early detection. This grant will fund the creation and production of an educational module to make a compelling case for early detection. This module will be suited for live delivery during meetings of various groups in Northeast Georgia (Kiwanis, Rotary, etc.) and shared digitally for 24/7 access on the BDC website.

Intentional Storage Systems
Our main storage challenges are with craft supplies and general household back stock (paper goods, hygiene products, etc.) Intentional craft supply storage systems would enable spontaneous creative activities that help teens process emotions and develop healthy coping skills. When supplies are readily accessible, staff can quickly set up art sessions or encourage engagement in productive leisure activities. Well-organized household back stock would ensure we maintain an appropriate inventory of essential items. Better organization would reduce waste, prevent shortages, and allow staff to focus on resident care rather than scrambling to find needed items. It would also teach teens life skills as they help manage supplies. A new system would promote dignity by keeping the home tidy rather than cluttered with visible storage, by allowing efficient storage of seasonal items, reduce visual chaos while maintaining access to items that create a nurturing, healthy home environment.

Gardening supplies for our on-campus gardens
Eagle Ranch serves children and families throughout North Georgia who are experiencing a crisis. Our flagship residential program has helped thousands of children and their family members find hope and healing for 40 years. Since the beginning, home-cooked, family-style meals have been core to the experience for children in our residential program. We desire to equip our staff and the children we serve with a deep, consistent understanding about food sourcing and nutrition. To that end, we have incorporated gardening into our on-campus school science curriculum. As part of their studies, they tend to a small greenhouse, multiple raised garden beds, and our newly planted fruit orchard. In addition, our on-campus staff tends to a community garden and raises chickens. We plan to purchase additional vegetable and fruit plants, soil, and compost for our gardens this spring. A gift of $750 to purchase these supplies would be greatly appreciated!

Food Drive Trailer Flooring
1 in 8 Georgians faces hunger. Community food drives done by youth at schools, businesses, churches, and other organizations play a crucial role for Georgia Mountain Food Bank and the communities we serve. They raise food, funds and awareness for our mission, our partner food pantries, and those we serve. These drives collect and distribute essential food items, such as canned foods, pasta, and peanut butter and jelly. It is critical for Georgia Mountain Food Bank to provide a pick-up service to community sites to eliminate the barrier of the community sites needing to deliver food drive donations to the food bank. We have a small trailer that picks up food drive donations from various community sites year-round. The trailer also helps pick up other retail and industry food donations. However, the trailer floor is plywood and we need to reinforce the floor and ramp with steel plating so our heavy food donations, pallet jacks and hand trucks donate go through the plywood. You can help!

Backpacks for School
Each year, we host a Back to School event where we give out fully equipped backpacks to children in need. Without this assistance, many children would go without much needed school supplies. Each backpack is padded with adjustable straps and is built to hold books, folders, notebooks, and supplies so everything is in reach.
